This is for all the kids born in the 70's who do not remember, and didn't have to bear the burden that our fathers, mothers and older brothers and sisters had to bear.

Jane Fonda is being honored as one of the "100 Women of the Century."

Unfortunately, many have forgotten and still countless others have never known how Ms. Fonda betrayed not only the idea of our country, but specific men who served and sacrificed during Vietnam

The first part of this is from an F-4E pilot The pilot's name is Jerry Driscoll, a River Rat.

In 1968, the former Commandant of the USAF Survival School was a POW in Ho Lo Prison
the "Hanoi Hilton." Dragged from a stinking cesspit of a cell, cleaned, fed, and dressed in clean PJ's, he was ordered to describe for a visiting American "Peace Activist" the "lenient and humane treatment" he'd received.

He spat at Ms. Fonda, was clubbed, and was dragged away. During the subsequent beating, he fell forward on to the camp Commandant 's feet, which sent that officer berserk.

In 1978, the Air Force Colonel still suffered from double vision (which permanently ended his flying career) from the Commandant's frenzied application of a wooden baton.

From 1963-65, Col. Larry Carrigan was in the 47FW/DO (F-4E's). He spent 6 years in the "Hanoi Hilton",,, the first three of which his family only knew he was "missing in action". His wife lived on faith that he was still alive. His group, too, got the cleaned-up, fed and clothed routine in preparation for a "peace delegation" visit.
They, however, had time and devised a plan to get word to the world that they were alive and still survived. Each man secreted a tiny piece of paper, with his Social Security Number on it, in the palm of his hand.

When paraded before Ms. Fonda and a cameraman, she walked the line, shaking each
man's hand and asking little encouraging snippets like: "Aren't you sorry you bombed
babies?" and "Are you grateful for the humane treatment from your benevolent captors?" Believing this HAD to be an act, they each palmed her their sliver of paper. She took them all without missing a beat. At the end of the line and once the camera stopped rolling, to the shocked disbelief of the POWs, she turned to the officer in charge and handed him all the little pieces of paper.

Three men died from the subsequent beatings. Colonel Carrigan was almost number four
but he survived, which is the only reason we know of her actions that day.

I was a civilian economic development advisor in Vietnam, and was captured by the North Vietnamese communists in South Vietnam in 1968, and held prisoner for over 5 years.

I spent 27 months in solitary confinement; one year in a cage in Cambodia; and one year in a "black box" in Hanoi my North Vietnamese captors deliberately poisoned and murdered a female missionary, a nurse in a leprosarium in Ban me Thuot, South Vietnam, whom I buried in the jungle near the Cambodian border. At one time, I weighed only about 90 lbs. (My normal weight is 170 lbs.)

We were Jane Fonda's "war criminals." When Jane Fonda was in Hanoi, I was asked by
the camp communist political officer if I would be willing to meet with her.

I said yes, for I wanted to tell her about the real treatment we POWs received... and how different it was from the treatment purported by the North Vietnamese, and parroted by her as "humane and lenient."

Because of this, I spent three days on a rocky floor on my knees, with my arms outstretched with a large steel weights placed on my hands, and beaten with a bamboo cane.

I had the opportunity to meet with Jane Fonda soon after I was released. I asked her if she would be willing to debate me on TV. She never did answer me.

These first-hand experiences do not exemplify someone who should be honored as part
of "100 Years of Great Women." Lest we forget..." 100 Years of Great Women"
should never include a traitor whose hands are covered with the blood of so many patriots.

There are few things I have strong visceral reactions to, but Hanoi Jane's participation in blatant treason, is one of them. Please take the time to forward to as many people as you possibly can. It will eventually end up on her computer and
she needs to know that we will never forget.

THE LAW IS THE LAW

So if the US government determines that it is against the law for the
words "under God" to be on our money, then, so be it.

And if that same government decides that the "Ten Commandments" are
not to be used in or on a government installation, then, so be it.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to be a law abiding US
citizen.

I say, "so be it," because I would like to think that smarter people
than I are in positions to make good decisions.

I would like to think that those people have the American public's
best interests at heart.

Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot post His
Commandments in Government buildings, I don't believe the Government
and its employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas
celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating
from many facets of American life.

I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving &
Easter. After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good
Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays. After all, it's just
another day.

I'd like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to
worry a bout getting home for the "Christmas Break." After all it's
just another day.

I'm thinking that a lot of my tax payer dollars could be saved, if all
government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday &
Easter. It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like
any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be
"politically correct."

In fact....

I think that our government should work on Sundays (initially set
aside for worshiping God..) because, after all, our government says
that it should be just another day....

If this idea gets to enough people, maybe our elected officials will
stop giving in to the minority opinions and begin, once again, to
represent the 'majority' of ALL of the American people.

truth - Europe died in Auschwitz .

We killed six million Jews and replaced them with 20 million Muslims.

In Auschwitz we burned a culture, thought, creativity, talent. We destroyed the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and wonderful people who changed the world.

The contribution of this people is felt in all areas of life: science, art, international trade, and above all, as the conscience of the world.

These are the people we burned.

And under the pretense of tolerance, and because we wanted to prove to ourselves that we were cured of the disease of racism, we opened our gates to 20 million Muslims, who brought us stupidity and ignorance, religious extremism and lack of tolerance, crime and poverty, due to an unwillingness to work and support their families with pride.

They have blown up our trains and turned our beautiful Spanish cities into the third world, drowning in filth and crime.

Shut up in the apartments they receive free from the government, they plan the murder and destruction of their naive hosts.

And thus, in our misery, we have exchanged culture for fanatical hatred, creative skill for destructive skill, intelligence for backwardness and superstition.

We have exchanged the pursuit of peace of the Jews of Europe and their talent for hoping for a better future for their children, their determined clinging to life because life is holy, for those who pursue death, for people consumed by the desire for death for themselves and others, for our children and theirs.

Why would anyone think that we should be at war with such nice, peaceful Muslims!

Americans need to Know - You need to forward this one!

A man, whose family was a part of German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

"Very few people were true Nazis "he said," but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories."

We are told again and again by "experts" and "talking heads" that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the specter of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history.

It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honour kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals.

The hard quantifiable fact is that the "peaceful majority" the "silent majority" is cowed and extraneous. Communist Russia comprised Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian communists were responsible for murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.

China's huge population, it was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War II, was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across Southeast Asia in an orgy of murder that included the systematic killing of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel and bayonet.

And, who can forget Rwanda, which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were "peace loving"?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence.

Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany, they will awake one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians, Rwandans, Serbs Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.

As for us who watch it all unfold; we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.

Lastly, at the risk of offending, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on, can contribute to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand. Who is Barack Obama?

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school."

Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that Obama's
introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education.

Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta .

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Television

"I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia : one the Australian law and another Islamic law that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said.

Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want, to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians."

The beginning of hunting season is here - finally!!! Actually started in many places, depending on the game. My son Pete's already in southern New Mexico on a black powder white tail hunt. Packing in on horseback and all that - would expect he'll come home with some blisters on his behind where he's never had any before. Be good for him - gotta toughen these young bucks up, ya know!

For this month's WebBench, I'd like to encourage all of you to focus on getting prepared for this great, fun time of year. There's always a lot to do - get guns ready, get to the range to check scope or sights, pick the place to hunt, buy all the gear you'll need, and more. One of the most important things you can do is to make absolutely sure your guns are in good working order and are safe to use. Then, you've got to think about other important things too...sights/scopes, slings, ammo, triggers, stocks, to mention a few. A successful hunt means a lot more than just getting a trophy or even getting your limit - it means being safe and ultimately having lots of fun. So, I'd suggest you get started now, hopefully long before you head into the fields or timbers to make sure your hunt goes off without a hitch. Key words here - Be Safe, Have a Super Hunt.

My oldest son Bob took his son out to a Hunter Education Safety course this past weekend, a requirement in Iowa for all kids twelve and older to obtain their hunting licenses. The local county Conservation officers put on a one day intensive class aimed at really teaching the kids proper gun safety, handling, hunting rules and regulations, hunter ethics, first aid, and more. A couple of our guys here at Brownells donate their time each year to help with the course - something you can do in your area. According to Bob, a fantastic class and a great way to introduce kids and adults to hunting and shooting the right way. He sat through the class with Alex, and told me he learned quite a bit from it even though he's been hunting and shooting his entire life. Now they can hunt together safely - good for a Dad/Grandpa to know.

So, might be something for you to do with your kids or grandkids. Many states have similar requirements for getting a hunting license. And, if they don't, many offer the training - just get on your state's DNR site and look for them...you're bound to find something in your area. (Check out Google, too.) Or, if not offered by your Department of Natural Resources (Iowa's name for the game department), check for the NRA Youth Training Events, or those from NSSF or 4-H or Boy Scouts Adventuring Programs, Royal Rangers, Pheasant's Forever, your local or regional Gun Clubs. Lots of great groups are working to help our kids to get involved safely with the shooting sports. Even if you're an adult, you can learn a lot and really appreciate what the shooting sports have to offer. The point is, get your kids involved, your wife, yourself. If you have years of experience, donate some of your time and help teach a class or a section of a class, sharing your years of knowledge with the next generation of our hunters and shooters. You don't have to be a full-time teacher either, simply giving back to the sport and teaching kids about what you love - can, and does, make a huge difference.

Two Quick Points:

1. JOIN THE NRA - you should already be a member, but if not get yourself a membership, plus one for you wife/girlfriend/partner and the kids. The NRA is the only group actively and aggressively supporting the 2nd Amendment - our right to bear arms personally that we own personally and can use to protect ourselves and our loved ones. With membership comes clout, and in this election cycle we're in - that's what counts.

2. SEND MONEY TO NRA-ILA - the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action. Our lobbying group, our lawyers who help defend cases against our industry and our people, our public voice on the "stuff" going on in federal and state legislatures. These are the folks who bring the weight of the NRA membership to their meetings with Legislators and their staffs. All this activity on our behalf costs money - and ILA support is not tax deductible. Their support does not come from your membership dues. You need to support them separately.

This is going to be a tough election cycle - and the outcome of those elections could be the watershed event in private ownership of firearms in this country. You MUST be a part of that effort to make sure strong, gun-friendly supporters of the rights granted by the 2nd Amendment get elected. It truly rests squarely on your shoulders!

Ford sales collapse again - boycott a driving force

Simply put, people are not buying Fords.

Ford Motor Company continues to suffer monthly sales losses because of its support of homosexuality.

For August, Ford reported a 14.4% drop in sales over the same month last year.

Rather than taking a neutral position in the culture war, Ford uses its profits to support gay activist groups, whose top agenda is to push pro-homosexual marriage and "gay" hate crimes laws on the rest of the nation.

While other automakers are at least holding their own (GM sales actually went up in August), Ford continues to suffer huge sales losses month after month.

It's obvious by now that homosexuals don't have enough purchasing power to keep the Ford ship afloat.

Remember the Islam terrorist who got on a plane with a bomb built into his shoe and tried to light it?
Did you know his trial is over?
Did you know he was sentenced?
Did you see/hear any of the judge's comments on TV or Radio?

Didn't think so.
Everyone should hear what the Judge had to say.

Ruling by Judge William Young, US District Court.

Prior to sentencing, the Judge asked the defendant if he had anything to say. His response: After admitting h is guilt to the Court for the record, Reid also admitted his "allegiance to Osama bin Laden, to Islam, and to the religion of Allah," defiantly stating, "I think I will not apologize for my actions," and told the Court "I am at war with your country."

Judge Young then delivered the statement quoted below:

January 30, 2003, United States vs. Reid. Judge Young:

"Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes upon you. On counts 1, 5 and 6: the Court sentences you to life in prison in the custody of the United States Attorney General. On counts 2, 3, 4 and 7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutively. (That's 80 years.)

On count 8: the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years again, to be served consecutively to the 80 years just imposed. The Court imposes upon you for each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 that's an aggregate fine of $2 million. The Court accepts the Government's recommendation with
respect to restitution and orders restitution in the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American Airlines.

The Court imposes upon you an $800 special assessment. The Court imposes upon you five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so I need go no further.

This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes. It is a fair and just sentence. It is a righteous sentence. Now, let me explain this to you. We are not afraid of you or any of your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid. We are Americans. We have been through the fire before. There is too much war talk here and I say that to everyone with the utmost respect. Here in this Court, we deal with individuals as individuals and care for individuals as individuals. As human beings, we reach out for justice.

You are not an enemy combatant. You are a terrorist. You are not a soldier in any war. You are a terrorist. To give you that reference, to call you a soldier, gives you far too much stature. Whether the officers of government do it or your attorney does it, or if you think you are a soldier. You are not ----- you are a terrorist. And we do not negotiate with terrorists. We do not meet with terrorists. We do not sign documents with terrorists. We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice.

So war talk is way out of line in this Court. You are a big fellow. But you are not that big. You're no warrior. I've known warriors. You are a terrorist. A species of criminal that is guilty of multiple attempted murders. In a very real sense, State Trooper Santiago had it right when you first were taken off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and the TV crews were, and he said: "You're no big deal."

You are no big deal.

What your able counsel and what the equally able United States attorneys have grappled with and what I have as honestly as I know how tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific. What was it that led you here to this courtroom today?

I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led you to do what you are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing? And, I have an answer for you. It may not satisfy you, but as I search this entire record, it comes as close to understanding as I know.

It seems to me you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You hate our freedom. Our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose. Here, in this society, the very wind carries freedom. It carries it everywhere from sea to shining sea. It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom. So that everyone can see, truly see, that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely. It is for freedom's sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf, have filed appeals, will go on in their representation of you before other judges.

We Americans are all about freedom. Because we all know that the way we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties. Make no mistake though. It is yet true that we will bare any burden;??? pay any price, to preserve our freedoms. Look around this courtroom. Mark it well. The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here. The day after tomorrow, it will be forgotten, but this, however, will long endure.

Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across America , the American people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual justice is in fact being done. The very President of the United States, through his officers, will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.

See that flag, Mr. Reid? That's the flag of the United States of America. That flag will f ly there long after this is all forgotten. That flag stands for freedom. And it always will.

Mr. Custody Officer. Stand him down.

So, how much of this Judge's comments did we hear on our TV sets? We need more judges like Judge Young, but that's another subject. Pass this around. Everyone should and needs to hear what this fine judge had to say. Powerful words that strike home. God Bless America

This is a comment by Jay Leno and if you aren't a fan of him it is worth reading anyway. We don't often stop to think about what we have and more always think about what we don't have.

"The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. It must be true given the source, right?

The Newsweek poll alleges that 67 percent of Americans are unhappy with the direction the country is headed and 69 percent of the country is unhappy with the performance of the president. In essence, two-thirds of the citizenry just ain't happy and want a change.

So being the knuckle dragger I am, I started thinking, ''What we are so unhappy about?''

Is it that we have electricity and running water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Is our unhappiness the result of having air conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter? Could it be that 95.4 percent of these unhappy folks have a job? Maybe it is the ability to walk into a grocery store at any time and see more food in moments than Darfur has seen in the last year?

Maybe it is the ability to drive from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean without having to present identification papers as we move through each state? Or possibly the hundreds of clean and safe motels we would find along the way that can provide temporary shelter? I guess having thousands of restaurants with varying cuisine from around the world is just not good enough. Or could it be that when we wreck our car, emergency workers show up and provide services to help all and even send a helicopter to take you to the hospital.

Perhaps you are one of the 70 percent of Americans who own a home. You may be upset with knowing that in the unfortunate case of a fire, a group of trained firefighters will appear in moments and use top notch equipment to extinguish the flames thus saving you, your family and your belongings. Or if, while at home watching one of your many flat screen TVs, a burglar or prowler intrudes, an officer equipped with a gun and a bullet-proof vest will come to defend you and your family against attack or loss. This all in the backdrop of a neighborhood free of bombs or militias raping and pillaging the residents. Neighborhoods where 90 percent of teenagers own cell phones and computers.

How about the complete religious, social and political freedoms we enjoy that are the envy of everyone in the world? Maybe that is what has 67 percent of you folks unhappy.

Fact is, we are the largest group of ungrateful, spoiled brats the world has ever seen. No wonder the world loves the U.S., yet has a great disdain for its citizens. They see us for what we are...the most blessed people in the world who do nothing but complain about what we don't have, and what we hate about the country instead of thanking the good Lord we live here.

I know, I know. What about the president who took us into war and has no plan to get us out? The president who has a measly 31 percent approval rating? Is this the same president who guided the nation in the dark days after 9/11? The president that cut taxes to bring an economy out of recession? Could this be the same guy who has been called every name in the book for succeeding in keeping all the spoiled ungrateful brats safe from terrorist attacks?

The commander in chief of an all-volunteer army that is out there defending you and me? Did you hear how bad the President is on the news or talk show? Did this news affect you so much, make you so unhappy you couldn't take a look around for yourself and see all the good things and be glad?

Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the "Media" told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind every day.

Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom. There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go.

They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig.

So why then the flat-out discontentment in the minds of 69 percent of Americans? Say what you want but I blame it on the media. If it bleeds it leads and they specialize in bad news. Everybody will watch a car crash with blood and guts. How many will watch kids selling lemonade at the corner? The media knows this and media outlets are for-profit corporations. They offer what sells, and when criticized, try to defend their actions by "justifying" them in one way or another. Just ask why they tried to allow a murderer like O.J. Simpson to write a book about how he didn't kill his wife, but if he did he would have done it this way......Insane!

Stop buying the negativism you are fed everyday by the media. Shut off the TV, burn Newsweek, and use the New York Times for the bottom of your bird cage. Then start being grateful for all we have as a country. There is exponentially more good than bad.

We are among the most blessed peoples on Earth and should thank God several times a day, or at least be thankful and appreciative."

US Mexican usurp US Flag!

The protesters put up the Mexican flag over the American flag flying upside down at Montebello High School in California .. This should keep rolling along until everyone gets a copy in their email. You will not see this heart-stopping photo on the front page of the NY Times or on the lead story of the major news networks. I predict this stunt will be the nail in the coffin of any guest-worker/amnesty plan on the table in Washington. The image of the American flag subsumed(?) to another and turned upside down on American soil is already spreading on Internet forums and via e-mail. Pass this along to every American citizen in your address books and to every representative in the state and federal government. If you choose to remain uninvolved, do not be amazed when you no longer have a nation to call your own nor anything you have worked for left since it will be "redistributed" to the activists while you are so peacefully staying out of the "fray." Check history, it is full of nations/empires that disappeared when its citizens no longer held their core beliefs and values. One person CAN make a difference. One plus one plus one plus one plus one plus one......... The battle for our secure borders and immigration laws that actually mean something, however, hasn't even begun. I do feel American need to take a stronger stand in areas such as this, but in checking http://www.snopes.com/photos/politics/mexicoflag.asp , I found, that while this is a true incident and the photo is real, Montebello High School was not the culprit, but rather students from two neighboring schools who overwhelmed the Montebello campus and stole the Montebello High School flag, added the Mexican Flag and turned the American Flag upside down. Yesterday, I was in Dixie County at the annual Red Belly Days event.

We have 9 days left in this short contest for the State Senate, and I am excited. I have been campaigning hard during the last 48 hours, and I can feel the support continuing to build. I am grateful for all of the many people who have been willing to walk precincts, put a yard sign up, and talk to their friends and neighbors at church, at their Rotary Club, and at their local grocery store. I know that there is no way that we can win next Tuesday on June 5th and keep District 3 in Republican hands unless there is a broad-based grassroots effort.

Yesterday, I was in Dixie County at the annual Red Belly Days event. For one brief moment, I thought about skipping the vote next week and challenging my opponent Charlie Dean to a belly-buster contest in the Suwannee River, but my campaign aides suggested that might not be a good idea. I am not known for being skinny and felt pretty good about the size of my splash, but Charlie Dean is a pretty big guy. I guess I will just wait for the vote next week.

After that, I spent some time in Dunnellon on a radio show and then walked precincts all day. I always like walking precincts. It gives you the chance to meet people in their homes and hear their concerns face to face. I can assure you that I will maintain that same availability as your State Senator in Tallahassee.

This morning, I attended three church services – Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ocala, St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, and Blessed Trinity in Ocala. Afterward, I went down to Tampa to speak at the National Federation for the Blind in Tampa. My son Jeffrey is visually impaired, and I am very conscious of the need for advocates in the legislature for the physically disabled. I plan to continue to be that advocate in the State Senate.

Tomorrow, we are going to honor the people who have made the ultimate sacrifice to give us the freedoms that we enjoy. On Memorial Day, it is a solemn but necessary occasion to stop for a moment and think of what has been done to make America what it is today. Too often, we take for granted that we can vote on our elected leaders, worship in the way that we choose, own a small business, own a home, or hold the kind of job that we like and want to do. We forget sometimes that this freedom has been paid for by the blood and sacrifice of countless veterans and support personnel who have committed themselves and their very lives to defend what we believe God has given every person on the globe: the right to be free. Take time to honor our veterans tomorrow, and keep in mind that even now, there are soldiers putting themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe. Tallahassee — Long time Tallahassee resident Christi Griner was the first person to vote in Leon County's opening day of early voting for the State Senate District 3 special Republican primary. She voted for Dennis Baxley.

Leon County's turnout rate in primary elections is typically one of the highest in State Senate District 3. This first vote cast is symbolic of Baxley's broad-based support and is part of a drive to turn out the vote for Baxley in the primary.

Crystal River — Tonight in a candidate forum hosted by the Citrus Chronicle, Speaker Pro Tem and State Senate candidate Dennis Baxley faced off with his opponent Charles Dean and scored an overwhelming victory on the issues.

The issues discussed included specific topics on property tax relief, education, gambling, water and protection of natural resources, and public safety. Baxley displayed the most knowledge on the issues and used the forum as an opportunity to validate his Republican credentials.

Key differences in opinions on policy emerged most definitively on the issues of water protection and public safety. Baxley pointed out Dean's past support for shipping water from the Nature Coast on barges to the rest of the state as well as his past support as Sheriff for early release of inmates. Dean was unable to come up with a specific defense for either issue.

"I think tonight that people saw differences between the two candidates that will help them vote in this special election," said senior consultant Tim Harding. "For Republican voters looking for a consistent conservative and passionate leader to represent them in the state senate, it is clear that Dennis Baxley is their only choice."

It is noteworthy that this is the second of two debates held in Citrus County that Baxley has attended. Last week, Dean skipped a candidate forum held in Marion County.

CHARLES DEAN’S TRIAL LAWYER FRIENDS LIE ABOUT BAXLEY – AGAIN!


1. Yesterday, Conservative Citizens for Justice, a group sponsored by one of Tallahassee’s most powerful special interest groups – the trial lawyers, launched yet another untrue personal attack on Dennis Baxley.

2. The trial lawyers are afraid of Dennis Baxley because of his strong stands on the issues like lawsuit reform and his unwillingness to play the inside-Tallahassee power games.

3. Be on the alert! The trial lawyers are conspiring with Charles Dean to twist the truth and smear Dennis Baxley.

4. These accusations are unfounded. There is no doubt that the liberal special interests would rather have Charles Dean instead of Dennis Baxley to push their agenda in Tallahassee. The only special interest that Dennis Baxley represents is the voters of Senate District 3.


THE MAILER
Allegations: The Mailer said that Dennis Baxley’s business was charged with 556 violations and claim that Dennis ran an illegal cemetery and was accused of improper handling of trust funds. Furthermore, the mailer claimed that Baxley tried to change the laws to benefit his own business.
Fact #1: Dennis Baxley has a completely unblemished record as an honorable businessman and is respected by all of his peers.


Fact #2: The funeral services business is one of the most highly regulated businesses in the state of Florida. Regularly, audits are performed and recommendations made by the state to keep these businesses in compliance. Baxley’s businesses have always responded to these recommendations in a timely manner and have re-adjusted accordingly.


Fact #3: Dennis’s funeral services business has a stellar record for delivering on its product. It has never been censured by the state for mishandling a customer’s money or not delivering services.

Fact #4: Dennis’s business had one unlicensed cemetery because it existed prior to the licensure for cemeteries. After licensure for cemeteries was created, Dennis took the necessary steps to bring it into compliance with the new rules.

I'm happy to report another great day on the campaign trail. We're in the home stretch, with just 13 days to go until the primary election. Today, I started with my interview at the Citrus Chronicle, which went very well. We discussed the issues that are near and dear to all of us in district 3: protecting of our water and natural resources, preserving our family values, and providing the right business climate for our small businessmen and women.

I had lunch in Tallahassee with the Downtown Rotary Club, and then drove to Madison to meet with Tommy Greene, a longtime activist and publisher. I was also able to meet with a group of supporters in Madison County and was greatly encouraged by their enthusiasm in this special election. I stopped in at Macclenny in Baker County, where I enjoyed meeting with Toppy Conner and Darryl Register, President of the Baker County Farm Bureau. The meeting couldn't have gone better; Darryl announced his personal endorsement of my candidacy, for which I am extremely grateful.

I was incredibly pleased to pick up another endorsement today. The Marion County Builders Association announced their endorsement of my candidacy this afternoon. Like them, I share their concerns on the need for property tax relief.

We're in the home stretch. In NASCAR terms, we're heading into Turn 4, and I can see the checkered flag waving in the distance. If we keep working hard, we can celebrate in the victory lane on June 5.

comprehensive property tax relief

Keep up the good work, team.

We are really beginning to make progress. We received a strong outpouring of support everywhere I traveled today. We spent most of the day raising money although I did have the opportunity to meet with Associated Industries of Florida in their candidate interviews as well as meet with the Marion County Realtors. Of primary concern to both groups was the stability of our economy and job growth. I believe that the number one thing that we can do right now to keep our economy on track and our state on firm financial footing is to provide comprehensive property tax relief. Our homeowners need it. Our renters need it. Our growers and agricultural community need it. Our small businesses need it. We cannot allow this issue to get caught up in Tallahassee’s politics as usual. We have to be thoughtful about the issue, but I know that people are hurting, and we need to give them the relief from the property tax burden that they need.

On another note, I had the occasion to speak with a number of supporters today who are concerned that we protect the quality of our springs and water supplies in the central part of the state. I have made this one of my key priorities for this campaign, and I have worked hard in the past to do the same. I strongly believe that our rivers and springs and the Everglades are natural treasures that must be protected. It is a quality of life issue, and it is an economic issue. We live in the most wonderful place on the planet. Our responsibility is to be stewards of this state so that people will continue to want to visit us and so that our children and grandchildren can continue the same quality of life that we have enjoyed for generations to come.

"I have been a long time supporter and signatory to the State Taxpayer Protection Pledge," said Baxley. "Americans for Tax Reform is a great organization that has supported low taxes for all Americans, and it concerns me that my opponent has never signed this important pledge.

Ocala — Today, Rep. Dennis Baxley, Speaker Pro Tem of the Florida House and Candidate for Senate District 3, spoke at the candidates debate hosted by the Marion County Republican Executive Committee and laid out a platform of leadership, values, and optimism for the people in District 3.

Baxley's opponent, former Democrat Charles Dean, failed to show up for the debate.

"What a great night," said Baxley. "I enjoyed the opportunity to once again connect with the people of Marion County, and emphasize the issues that we all care about, such as halting the expansion of gambling in our state, protecting our water, and defending our family values and our Constitutional freedoms."

Baxley enjoys widespread support throughout the senate district and has been endorsed by 19 local elected officials in Marion County. No other candidate has received a single endorsement from an elected official in Marion County, which has more Republican voters than any other county in District 3.

"Tonight, every Republican in Marion County saw the writing on the wall," said Stan McClain, Chairman of the Marion County Commission. "When Dean can't find time to come to Marion County when he's a candidate, how would he ever find time as a senator? The die has been cast."

"Apparently, my opponent hasn't looked at the district lines very closely," said Baxley. "He's going to be surprised on election day when he learns that 65 percent of the voters in District 3 live outside Citrus County."
