Dunnellon — Today, Rep. Dennis Baxley, Speaker Pro Tem of the Florida House and Candidate for Senate District 3, called on his opponent former Democrat Charles Dean to join Baxley and the 1,187 state legislators across the nation who have signed the State Taxpayer Protection Pledge.

"I have been a long time supporter and signatory to the State Taxpayer Protection Pledge," said Baxley. "Americans for Tax Reform is a great organization that has supported low taxes for all Americans, and it concerns me that my opponent has never signed this important pledge.

"At a time when Republicans must present themselves with clear definition, I think nothing would be important than to commit to keeping taxes low. I encourage Charles Dean to take action immediately to show the voters of District 3 that he is committed to Republican principles."

Baxley has been a signatory to the State Taxpayer Protection Pledge as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, and has again signed the pledge as a candidate for state senate. The pledge can be found at www.atr.org.
